Programs of Study

Program Selection

Choosing a degree or certificate program is crucial for planning your course of study, as the general education and program-specific requirements can vary significantly from one program to another. Columbia State Community College offers various options, including transfer programs, Associate of Applied Science degrees, and technical certificates.

  • Associate of Arts (A.A.), Associate of Science (A.S.), Associate of Science in Teaching (A.S.T.) The Tennessee Transfer Pathway (TTP) degrees ensure that all required community college courses will be accepted by the transfer institution in the designated major. For a list of four-year institutions that offer TTP majors, please visit the Tennessee Transfer Pathway website.  University Parallel degrees are intended for students planning to transfer into baccalaureate programs that do not follow the Tennessee Transfer Pathway, which means these courses may not be fully transferable.

  • Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degrees are not designed to be transferable and are specifically intended for students who wish to enter the job market immediately upon graduation. The total number of semester hours required for an Associate of Applied Science degree ranges from 60 to 74 hours.

  • Technical Certificates: These certificates are designed to equip students with entry-level proficiency in specific skills, with requirements varying by program. Students seeking a certificate must complete a minimum of 25% of the credits required for that certificate in residence at Columbia State and maintain a GPA of at least 2.0 in the courses required for the certificate.
