President's Welcome

Welcome Students,

On behalf of the faculty and staff, I welcome you to Columbia State - Tennessee's first Community College established in 1966!  You are attending the Tennessee Community College of the Year for 2021, and we are excited you chose C-State as the foundation for your future.  All of us at the College are committed to your education success!

Columbia State is a student-centered College dedicated to providing both a challenging and supportive learning environment.  The College's 2023-2024 Academic Catalog has been prepared to assist you in all areas:  applying for admission and financial aid, registering for classes, and mapping your academic plan to guide your journey to help ensure your success.  It is good to visit the College webpage frequently - it is the communication source for current and helpful information - https://www.columbiastate.edu/

Education is a lifelong journey and we are your partner in constructing a strong foundation for continuous learning.  For your success we offer an educational environment that nurtures your development for life and work beyond College graduation.  You will find faculty and staff ready to assist you - all are committed to provide support and assistance for a rich and successful College experience.

C-State offers the complete college experience through our many campus life activities: plays, art exhibits, concerts, athletic events, competitions, and academic societies, to name a few.  I encourage you to become involved in the many extracurricular activities offered.  They support, expand, and enhance your academic and personal growth.

An activity which offers leadership opportunities through membership is the President's Leadership Society (PLS), Student Government Association (SGA), Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), and other College clubs. The President's Leadership Society [PLS] is an organization in which I am personally involved and hope you will consider.  Employers or your transfer College will take notice of your degree/certificate as well as the extracurricular accomplishments - it shows commitment, follow-through, and completion of your goals; important qualities.

As your College President, I extend a sincere and genuine welcome to you on behalf of everyone at Columbia State. I hope that as you pursue your education, we will have an opportunity to meet and become acquainted. However, my greatest pleasure will be the opportunity to say "Congratulations" as you walk across the stage at graduation!!  Welcome to Columbia State!
