Program Requirements - Students may be required to take additional Learning Support courses. Courses cannot be used more than once to satisfy program requirements.

It is recommended that students complete ENGL 1010 and MATH 1420 before taking Praxis Core Tests.

Check www.tntransferpathway.org to see which four-year institutions offer this TTP major. Students should meet with the assigned advisor to determine courses required for the university chosen.
*For transfer to APSU, ETSU, UM, UTC and UTK, MATH 1530 is required. At UTM and TSU, MATH 1130 is required.
**Neither UM nor UTK has Development of Exceptional Children in its Pre-K-3 Curriculum and students transferring to either UM or UTK will have to take one other course after transfer.
***Students who plan to transfer to UTK should take an Intermediate foreign language instead of MATH 1410 ; UM does not require completing of MATH 1410 .
****Students who plan to transfer to ETSU should take EDUC 2210 instead of MATH 1420 .
Additional Degree Requirements

Students earning an AST degree must meet the following:

Attainment of a 2.75 cumulative grade point average

ACT cumulative score of 21 (or SAT 1020) or successful completing of approved standardized examination (Praxis Core) for admission to the university College of Education

Satisfactory ratings on an index of suitability for the teaching profession

Students transferring to a public university in Tennessee may need to meet additional requirements to gain admittance to the university
